Green Spine Phase 2 looks to extend the linear green route which passes through the residential heart of Lisson Grove and connects Marylebone Station to the wider pedestrian routes along Regents Canal.Â
It presents a great opportunity to create high quality public realm with improved pedestrian and cycle links and cherished green spaces for the local community. Â The landscape proposals look to prioritise pedestrians through the design of people focused streets which encourage alternative transport methods and discourage car use.Â
Through traffic calming measures, increased greening, new tree planting and a trail of social and play-scapes, the landscape aims to provide a walk-able community, boost activity, decrease pollution and create a more inclusive & dynamic public realm.Â
As part of the consultation strategy we were keen to work with local groups, key stakeholders and the wider community to examine the existing issues with the public realm and collaborate to create a place that responds to all of their needs.
The use of a before and after virtual reality model was the culmination of this process that allowed the public to visualise the key changes and walk around at their own pace to understand fully the scale of change. Â
