We are pleased that Bristol City Council granted planning permission for a major mixed-use retail, café/restaurant and office development in Clifton Village that we have been working on with THAT Group and Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios since 2016.
This landmark project will increase urban tree planting and biodiversity, create a high quality public realm surrounding the building on all 4 sides and deliver a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ scheme in this sensitive Conservation Area.
We are delighted that the Meadow at Elephant Park is now open.
This playful landscape led project for a meanwhile space aims to educate and engage users on the importance of our urban pollinators.
Developed in collaboration for Lendlease with Michael Grubb Studios, and Tom Hare the pocket park uses site-reclaimed timber and tilted landform to create a playful wildflower tapestry with life-size willow woven elephant and towering tulips.
We were honoured to be finalists with Pocket Living at the 2019 Landscape Institute Awards and humbled to be in the presence of Sir David Attenborough.
A number of the team managed to speak with the living legend and hear first-hand his words ‘you have a great responsibility to bring the realities of the natural world to the understanding and the love of human beings worldwide’.
We are delighted to announce that Emma Gibson has been promoted to Associate Landscape Architect.

The Beecroft Building, designed by HawkinsBrown architects with public realm and landscape by B|D, has won a RIBA National Award 2019 as well as the RIBA South Award 2019 and the RIBA South Building of the Year Award 2019.
RIBA judges agreed that the building was a sophisticated, erudite design that is testament to the project team’s close alliance and hard work. The new landscape and public realm includes connections to the University Parks and a high quality quad acting as the main building approach.
The Beecroft Building was officially opened by Sir Tim Berners-Lee on 17th September 2018.
B|D landscape architects were thrilled to have four projects shortlisted for the 2019 Housing Design Awards and were delighted that Wilmer Place was a Project Winner.
The project was designed in close collaboration with Belsize Architects for Casa Bella Developments Ltd on a site with a complex and extensive planning history.
We worked to develop a landscape approach that was sensitive to the significant heritage assets including the listed Abney Park Cemetery and were pleased when planning consent was achieved in December 2018.
B|D are delighted to welcome Jenna Counsell to the team as a Senior Landscape Architect.
Jenna joined B|D after over 3 years at LUC, where she gained valuable experience working across all project stages on a range of projects, including university campus, historic landscapes, business parks, commercial and residential schemes.
Jenna’s most recent experience includes a new waterside campus for the University of Northampton, where she contributed to campus wide planting and was heavily involved in the delivery of the new student village.
Jenna enjoys the initial stages of concept design, through to the technical detail required for a project to be realised. She is particularly interested in design as a tool to enhance people’s connections with their surroundings and the numerous benefits this has on our well-being.
B|D are delighted to welcome Dimitrije Jankovic to the team as a Senior Landscape Architect.
Dimitrije joined B|D after four years working in Bath for the respected landscape firm Macgregor Smith where he gained valuable experience working on a range of high quality projects from concept to completion.
Dimitrije has led and supported a wide range of projects including urban public realm regeneration schemes, civic squares, retail destinations and mixed use residential schemes from inception through construction phases to completion across the UK.
Dimitrije has particular interest in the concept design and creative side of the project that evokes the character of the site, whilst putting a great attention to the detail and the technical side of design work.
