The site sits within the London Dock development by St George which seeks to deliver new homes and school places to the Borough of Tower Hamlets. Within the masterplan the site has been allocated for the provision of a secondary school to provide much needed spaces for local children with 6 Forms of Entry and a 250 place 6th Form Centre, giving a total student number of 1200.
As the London Dock site is undergoing a transformation to residential and commercial uses, new development needs to respond positively to the existing urban fabric and the challenges presented by historic infrastructure.
Proposals seek to deliver a cherished community asset which provides essential educational resources and community activities. The proposed scheme, will draw on the site’s history, environment and context to inform the design thus enabling the scheme to celebrate the character of the local area.
Landscape proposals seek to create a natural system that helps to mitigate the negative impacts from the surrounding urban fabric while creating an environment supportive of local ecology, play, learning and work.
